Submission From James Amundson

Here are all of the previous submissions that we like:

Submission From Jeff Williams

Submission From Brad Garner

Submission From JS Nicolas

Submission From Yasaman Sheri

Submission From Per @ Modernstyle.se

Submission From Brad Waters

My favourite art so far is by Per. It's very moody and suits Shadow's music well. Good use of typo too. I'm also impressed by the level of detail that's gone into JS Nicolas' piece! I've submitted my own artwork ... good luck everyone

I really like the piece by James Amundson, with the bleeding graffiti.

The one by Vincent Walgraef just seems mediocre in my opinion. And the Yasaman Sheri one I don't feel like fits the style of DJ Shadow, but who knows, he gets final say anyway.

I like the ones from JS Nicolas, Jeff Williams, and Brad Garner too, but my favorite, again, is the James Amundson piece.

I don't mean to sound harsh but what is with the Yasaman love? Yasaman I'm sure you are a talented designer and I'm sorry to be critical but I think you've missed the mark here.

The image looks nice but speaks nothing of music, dj shadow, remixes or anything related to hip hop. I think it would look fine on a lifestyle magazine cover – but a dj shadow album????

Also the type work is a little sloppy, the spacing between the 3 lines is all over the place. "The" hangs out really awkwardly while the the other 2 lines are vertically uncentered. I'ts just been slapped down with no thought.

Come one people Shadow deserves BETTER!

oh btw why is that tape one that the last person posted the font and style SO similar to yasaman's?... basically... but the tapes are not bad.

oh man i agree, the last two posted are terrible. im sorry to be honest, but i think yasaman's is still best. i just wish she/he would design the inside too, maybe like the way that guy posted with their tapes- but with the walking person or something.

Solesides is dead on with this one...

I love this.

As far as displaying DJ Shadow's music visually, I think the ones from James and Brad do so best.

James' illusion/graff piece says "mystery" and "hip hop" while Brad's skull scientist says "scientific," "precise," and a bit out there.

All these things to me say DJ Shadow.

And although Jeff's doesn't portray "DJ Shadow," the idea of turning records into origami to represent "Remix" was a great idea.

If there was some way to combine all 3 of these pieces into one composition, I think that would be best!

Looks like we may have some more submissions to post soon, we have been getting a bunch of emails with some dope new concepts... So for all of you artists AND DJ's/Producers, you have 2 more days to get in your stuff for consideration before the deadline.

Hello everyone,
Seriously, for me the only good covers are JS nicolas, Yasaman Sheri, and Per. The 2 last posted are just HORRIBLE (sorry for being honest)
I think The cover from Nicolas is really different from what we can expect from a shadow's cover. I really ike it
