DJShadow.com contributes to Soulstrut.com's Katrina Relief Auction. Some of you may have heard about Soulstrut.com's excellent auction drive to raise money for the Katrina relief, but for those that haven't, listen up. Collectors and organizations are donating rare records, product, and miscellaneous items to be auctioned. The winning bid is being TRIPLED, meaning that a $100 winning bid is contributing $300 to the charities (including Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity). Dollar for dollar, this is the best way for vinyl heads to cop some rare stuff AND contribute to an extremely worthy cause. DJShadow.com is contributing the following items for auction, all of which begin at noon PST September 12, and end at noon PST September 19. Lot 1: Public Works Box Set, signed by Shadow (winner specifies shirt size, see the merch section for details) Lot 2: Public Works Box Set, signed by Shadow (winner specifies shirt size, see the merch section for details)... yes, there are two box sets to be auctioned.Lot 3: Dick Cheney picture disc. This is the legendary Radiohead mix Shadow pressed up for the 2004 Presidential Elections. Around 500 were made, and this copy comes from Shadows remaining stash. Lot 4: 1997 Shadow Tour test pressing. Serious stuff here, folks. Shadow has never turned one of these loose on the public, in any capacity. In 1997, Shadow toured with Jeru the Damaja in America and Radiohead in Europe. He made this test pressing through Mo' Wax for the tour (thus the French manufacturing info on the label). It contains portions from the master tapes of extended samples from High Noon and Endtroducing, as well as various sounds for Shadow to scratch. 50 COPIES WERE MADE. Shadow estimates that this copy for auction is one of about 3 to survive unscathed; the others are either missing or in various states of overuse and abuse.
