Message From Shadow
In trying to build the definitive online discography for all products related to my music, we’ve discovered many gaps, as well as several surprises. For example, I had completely forgotten that the CUBE Magazine/Unkle picture disc existed until stumbling on a box buried in storage a few weeks ago. Therefore, THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. I’m human; I forget stuff.
There are obviously other online discographies related to myself and Mo’ Wax, many of which are EXTREMELY thorough, but I’ve also noticed a lot of errors and inconsistencies. So, I am only including those items that I physically own and can hold in my hand. If you would like to point out glaring errors or omissions, email generalinfo@djshadow.com Please provide a photo of your item, or a high-quality scan, and we’ll consider amending or including the product. Trying to locate all of the items that I raided from the Mo’ Wax cabinet, or was handed on a Japan tour 15 years ago, is an ongoing process, so expect more additions and corrections in the weeks and months to come.
Also, please note that I am only including items that contain my music, so other Mo’ Wax and Quannum releases won’t be seen here. My criteria for inclusion is, “does it contain any music of mine on it?” If yes, it’s in. If no, it’s out. Otherwise this section would be unmanageable.
One of the most-asked questions on the site is, “How can I tell if my copy of Lesson 4/Brainfreeze/Diminishing Returns, etc. is real?” For all of those people, and for any collectors that might be viewing, we have tried to include notes within the discography alerting you to any item that may have been bootlegged or is particularly obscure. Think of it as “a guide to collecting DJ Shadow,” contained within the item descriptions. This feature, too, will be enhanced as information is confirmed.
The discography has been neglected for a while now, so I’m glad to have turned my attention to it again, albeit for a short time. Again, there will be mistakes, and there will be omissions. But with your help, I hope to eventually be able to call this work-in-progress what I’ve always wanted to: the DEFINITIVE discography of all things DJ Shadow.

Notes
One of the most underrated follow-ups of all time? Private Press is DJ Shadow's second album release
(if you don't include UNKLE, which he does) and the follow-up to the breakout Endtroducing. The Private Press marks the first time that Shadow had to confront intense scrutinization of his music, which affected him profoundly.
Though not as celebrated as Endtroducing, The Private Press certainly contains some of his best songs. "Walkie Talkie" and "You Can't Go Home Again" remain fan favorites, while Shadow has said that "Six Days" is the closest he has ever come to realizing the potential in his music.
The scarcest permutation of the album by far is the initial CD promo sent out by MCA featuring a "private press" style image of Shadow on the cover.
The commercial CD was released both in normal format and as a limited expanded package containing a bonus disc with the "Pushing Buttons" routine. The UK version contained a bonus track, "Giving Up The Ghost (Original Version.)" There was also a "CD wallet" style promo CD in the UK.
Of particular note is the European add-on CD (pictured above,) which came included with the album in France. It contains "Six Days (Bad Company Mix)" and "Right Thing/GDMFSOB (Tokio Ghetto Tech Remix.)"

It's so pleasant to ride on this discography...on the one hand, on the other hand, i feel so sad seeing that i will probably never have enough time to add all these releases to my collection.
Hi there, should be aware that another promo CD was release under Universal Island Records label featuring exactly the same visuals.
Cheers for this ultra detailed new discography, can help to compare with a fan's collection. Would love to ameliorate it too :)
