An Update From DJ Shadow

Friends, I hope this message finds you all safe and well.

As many of you know, I recently released a double-album entitled Our Pathetic Age. Some of you also know that I’ve been hard at work assembling an all-new live show to accompany the album. I’m writing now to bring you up to speed with the status of that show, since I know many of you are probably wondering how the tour has been affected due to the current pandemic.

As you might expect, all upcoming shows currently scheduled have either been cancelled or postponed. My hope and intention is that ALL of these affected shows will happen eventually, but the situation is too fluid for me to be able to provide any concrete information yet. My team and I are working with the venues and promoters to be able to hit the ground running once things return to normal… whenever that might be. In the meantime, if you have a ticket for an affected show, please check with your ticket provider to find out how they are handling refunds, and/or whether your ticket will be honored for the rescheduled date.

It’s been tough watching the tour go from viability to cancellation and postponement, but I’m grateful that we were able to successfully perform the first seven shows as planned. Between mid-February and March 1st, we played Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Glasgow, Manchester, and London. In doing so, I was able to receive invaluable feedback from the amazing audiences in attendance; feedback which has allowed me to exhale and know: “Ok, the show works!” Believe me, it’s a great validation to experience after having assembled the music and visuals for months in isolation. It also makes this frustrating, but essential, pause more tolerable, knowing that when normalcy returns, I’ll be back with a show I have confidence in.

Eventually, the tour will restart. In the meantime, I’ll be doing the same thing you’re doing: heeding the advice of health care professionals as best as I can, so that we all can emerge from this crisis intact and stronger than before. Thanks as always for your support, and I look forward to seeing you as soon as possible.

“Rather than just playing tracks, he constructs his set as a series of lengthy medleys or mixes, songs from different parts of his discography brought into new and often unexpected conjunctions, as if the past and the present are pitted in battle for the audience’s hearts and minds.”
